Mister Sparky® holds ourselves to the strictest standards, including compliance with all local and national codes dictated by the National Electrical Code (NEC). Our standards ensure our customers' homes are as safe and as reliable as possible, and also protects their investment: by complying with the NEC, our electricians make sure homeowners can sell their homes with minimal trouble.
For homeowners who are buying, selling, or considering a new home, electrical inspections are crucial to a.) understanding what you're getting into, and b.) ensuring a home is safe. Even newly-remodeled homes might have neglected electrical systems with aging components, outdated design, and other problems that range from inconvenient to dangerous.
It's also worth noting that older homes might not be up to the most recent codes, as the NEC is constantly improving and iterating. Even if a home is up to code, it may not be suited for the demanding power needs of the average family. With several laptops, smartphones, screens, and other devices for each family member, having reliable power everywhere in the house is vital—an inspection lets you know what you're working with.
Local jurisdictions and code enforcement boards inspect for compliance with the minimum standards, as set forth in code. The extensively trained and licensed technicians at Mister Sparky electrical comply with all local and state codes. Our techs are specifically trained to flag and take corrective action to keep your property and family safe.
Some electric code violation guidelines include:
To avoid critical overloading on receptacles where high wattage power devices like hair dryers could be in use, there must be at least one separate 20 amp. branch circuit.
Outdated wiring is one of the most common problems found in older homes. Fires can start when wires fray or when breaker boxes can’t handle the demands placed upon them. When these things occur, heat transfer to surrounding objects can cause them to smoke or ignite. Arcing is an even more dangerous possibility where the electrical current jumps across connections instead of moving through a circuit. This is essentially a form of lightning and the risk of fire or electric shock is very real. Ungrounded plugs and faulty outlets are also causes of home fires. The best way to stop fires and electrocution from happening is to have your home electric system inspected by a pro.
Protect your investment and avoid surprises by getting an electrical inspection for your new home or renovation. Mister Sparky provides comprehensive inspections to uncover hidden electrical risks. We can also help you determine how new appliances will affect your home if you are making upgrades. If you are adding a new water heater system, extra refrigerators, an outdoor oven, or more space heaters, these will all make heavy demands on your home’s wiring and breakers.
If you need to upgrade your box or add a new subpanel, we can advise you on next steps. If you are unsure about the state of your system, our team can tell you the exact condition of your home’s outlets, wiring, breakers, grounding, and insulation.
Inspections are quick and remarkably affordable. By making sure you have a thorough electrical inspection completed by a qualified Mister Sparky electrician before buying, selling, or remodeling a home, you can help ensure your home's electrical system operates at the highest level of safety possible. Our trained technicians can provide whole house rewiring and evaluation of your circuits to ensure compliance to code and the safe delivery of electrical current within your home.

Last minute call to the local Mr. Sparky asking for the appointment for today, 4/2/2025. Was given a window of 8:30 AM to 1030 AM for arrival. Got a text that tech was on the way and he arrived a little after 9! The tech, John Tornabene, came in introduced himself and asked what all was going to be done. We pointed out the rooms where the celing light/fan was going to go, where the two pendents were going and where the long light was going. After looking over all the products John got to work. There were a few hick ups along the way and that was due to the use of puck lights and a lot of plastic being used in the construction of the house. John over came it all and finished and left the place better than when he found it. Professional, courteous, friendly and skilled are all good adjectives to describe this man! Great job John, thank you.

Absolutely love love Mr. Sparky of Clear Lake. The whole team is amazing. Rita is so nice and helpful. Our service technician Jake and Blake were awesome. Very friendly, knowledgeable and professional. Arrived on time and respectful of our home. They did the repairs requested and gave us an honest estimate for other work needed. Will definitely use again and highly recommend.

So far my experience with Mr. Sparky has been great! He just came By to give us a quote today and was so thorough, he didn’t just walk around for five minutes and overprice me. I’ve spoken with his wife several times on the phone and she has been most helpful. And John a.k.a. Mr. Sparky was great and gave us a wonderful quote! I look forward to him coming back next week to hardwire our hot tub.

Jake and Blake arrived in the morning and introduced themselves before proceeding into any inspection of the circuit breaker. Jake thoroughly explained the process of the work that would be performed, how long the job would take, and the cost. Jake showed me pictures from a job that him and Blake did the day before as this would be the same job I was inquiring about for my home, which gave me piece of mind that the job would be done as clean as possible. I asked Jake to email me the quote and after maybe 5 minutes, my mind was made for Jake and Blake to do the job. I felt comfortable with the both of them and the fact that Jake was transparent with me made me feel at ease. Also, shoutout to Blake, who removed the panel to the breaker box and vacuumed out all the sawdust that was left behind, probably from when the house was built. This is a follow up review as both Jake and Blake came out to install our EV charger and when I asked how long the job could take, Jake said about 3-4 hours on average but wouldn’t you know, Jake and Blake were finished in about 2.5 hours. During the install, Jake pointed out something in our circuit breaker box that didn’t necessarily need attention but he took care of the potential issue for us, which we appreciated because he explained it could potentially be a safety concern. Overall the job was clean and there were no holes or conduit that needed to be done as other companies and contractors I contacted said that there could be a decent size hole that needed to be patched and painted or that conduit may need to be installed. Jake assured me that the hole he would make would be about an inch wide and no conduit would be needed. 10 out of 10 would recommend Mister Sparky and if you can, ask for Jake and Blake. Also, shoutout to Rita for being so communicative when setting up the initial inspection and the appointment.

The electrician was very professional and showed up on time. It didn’t take long at all. Very worth it. We are happy with the installation.
