Richland is one of the most distinctive cities in the American West. It is a community whose very existence was created by the Manhattan Project, when the federal government built the city in 1943 to house the scientists and workers of the Hanford Site's B Reactor and its successors. That history has given Richland a character unlike any other city of its size, a highly educated, scientifically sophisticated population of DOE and PNNL scientists, engineers, and contractors. It has a strong sense of community identity centered on the city's nuclear heritage (the Richland High School athletic teams are still called the Bombers). It has one of the highest per-capita rates of advanced degrees in any American city.
Richland's housing reflects that history. The "alphabet houses" of the Manhattan Project era, the prefabricated homes built to specific designs labeled by letter, are still standing in the historic Richland Village. It is now among the most historically significant residential structures in Washington State. Beyond the Village, Richland's residential development spans the postwar decades through to the present, with mid-century ranches and split-levels giving way to the newer custom homes in the Horn Rapids and Queensgate developments. Each era carries its own electrical profile.
Richland's Hanford workforce, among the most technically sophisticated in the country, is an early adopter of EVs, solar, smart home technology, and energy-efficient electrical infrastructure. EV charger installation is our most-requested service in Richland, driven by a community that is acutely aware of energy policy and enthusiastically adopts clean transportation. We serve all of Richland with licensed, background-checked electricians and StraightForward Pricing®.
