Mister Sparky® of Vernon Hills is headquartered at 175 Olde Half Day Road in Lincolnshire, the geographic center of our Lake County service territory. Lincolnshire itself is one of Lake County's most strategically positioned communities. It is a village at the intersection of the Tri-State Tollway (I-294/I-94) and Half Day Road (Route 22). It combines corporate campus presence (Aon Hewitt, Hewitt Associates, and other major employers have called Lincolnshire home). It has a predominantly upscale residential character anchored by the Marriott Theatre and the Half Day Forest Preserve. From this base, we serve an arc of Lake County communities spanning from the historic lakefront estates of Lake Forest and Highland Park in the north and east to the inland growth corridors of Libertyville, Mundelein, Vernon Hills, and Buffalo Grove. At Mister Sparky® of Vernon Hills, we serve all of these communities with licensed electrical service backed by our on-time guarantee.
The communities in our service territory represent one of the most architecturally and economically diverse collections of any Mister Sparky® franchise in the Midwest. We serve the historic lakefront estates of Lake Forest, some of the most significant residential architecture in the American Midwest, with homes that have been standing for 100 years or more. We serve the Victorian and Arts-and-Crafts homes of Highland Park and Highwood. We serve the planned corporate and residential communities of Vernon Hills and Lincolnshire. We serve the semi-rural communities of the Lake County interior. We also serve the working-class and diverse communities of Highwood. Here, the community's military heritage and more modest housing stock create a genuinely different electrical service profile than the surrounding affluent North Shore communities.
Illinois requires electrical contractors to hold a valid license issued by the Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation (IDFPR). Every Mister Sparky® of Vernon Hills technician carries the required Illinois license, full liability insurance, and has passed a thorough background check. Our StraightForward Pricing® means a written estimate before any work begins. Financing is available for larger projects. Ask about current programs when you call. Our on-time promise is absolute: if we are late, the repair is free.

Lake County, Illinois sits in a unique position in the northern Illinois electrical landscape. It is a county that spans from the lakefront estates of Lake Forest and Highland Park on Lake Michigan's western shore through the inland communities of Libertyville, Mundelein, and Vernon Hills, to the southern reach of Buffalo Grove and Deerfield approaching Cook County. This geography creates a service territory with two distinct electrical environments.
The lakefront communities of Lake Forest, Highland Park, and Lake Bluff have housing stocks defined by the late 19th and early 20th centuries. The architecturally significant Tudor Revivals, Colonial Revivals, and Shingle Style homes that have been maintained and updated over a century of ownership. These homes carry the layered electrical histories that 100-year-old residential properties inevitably accumulate. Knob-and-tube wiring in attic spaces, complex mid-century update histories, and estate-scale electrical demands are the hallmarks of this environment.
The inland communities, including Vernon Hills, Lincolnshire, Libertyville, Mundelein, and Buffalo Grove, represent several decades of suburban development ranging from the 1960s through the present. Federal Pacific panels and aluminum wiring are common in the older inventory. Contemporary construction in these communities has more modern electrical infrastructure but growing demand for EV chargers, generator backup, and smart home integration from a technology-forward professional population.
Both environments share the Illinois winter climate, and the winter electrical needs that winter creates. Heated garages, generator backup, and all the infrastructure that keeps Lake County homes comfortable and functional through the polar vortex events and blizzards that periodically define northern Illinois winters are as important here as in any market we serve.
Yes. Vernon Hills is an incorporated village with its own Building and Development Services Department that issues required permits for work within village limits. Lincolnshire is a separate incorporated village with its own Building Department. Despite their proximity and shared zip code, they are entirely separate municipalities with separate permitting functions. We verify the correct permitting authority for every address before beginning work.
Most of Lake County, including Lincolnshire, Vernon Hills, Libertyville, Mundelein, Buffalo Grove, and the North Shore communities, is served by ComEd (Commonwealth Edison, an Exelon company). Some Lake County communities have municipal utilities, most notably Highland Park and Lake Forest, which we note on those community pages. We coordinate with ComEd for service entrance work, meter pulls during panel replacements, and generator interconnection for most Lake County projects.
Yes. Illinois law requires carbon monoxide alarms in all dwelling units that contain an attached garage or fossil-fuel burning furnace, boiler, water heater, or fireplace. Given the virtual universality of attached garages and natural gas heating in Lake County's residential market, CO detectors are required in virtually every home we serve. We install CO and smoke detectors per Illinois code requirements as a standard part of our safety service.
