Mister Sparky® holds ourselves to the strictest standards, including compliance with all local and national codes dictated by the National Electrical Code (NEC). Our standards ensure our customers' homes are as safe and as reliable as possible, and also protects their investment: by complying with the NEC, our electricians make sure homeowners can sell their homes with minimal trouble.
For homeowners who are buying, selling, or considering a new home, electrical inspections are crucial to a.) understanding what you're getting into, and b.) ensuring a home is safe. Even newly-remodeled homes might have neglected electrical systems with aging components, outdated design, and other problems that range from inconvenient to dangerous.
It's also worth noting that older homes might not be up to the most recent codes, as the NEC is constantly improving and iterating. Even if a home is up to code, it may not be suited for the demanding power needs of the average family. With several laptops, smartphones, screens, and other devices for each family member, having reliable power everywhere in the house is vital—an inspection lets you know what you're working with.
Local jurisdictions and code enforcement boards inspect for compliance with the minimum standards, as set forth in code. The extensively trained and licensed technicians at Mister Sparky electrical comply with all local and state codes. Our techs are specifically trained to flag and take corrective action to keep your property and family safe.
Some electric code violation guidelines include:
To avoid critical overloading on receptacles where high wattage power devices like hair dryers could be in use, there must be at least one separate 20 amp. branch circuit.
Outdated wiring is one of the most common problems found in older homes. Fires can start when wires fray or when breaker boxes can’t handle the demands placed upon them. When these things occur, heat transfer to surrounding objects can cause them to smoke or ignite. Arcing is an even more dangerous possibility where the electrical current jumps across connections instead of moving through a circuit. This is essentially a form of lightning and the risk of fire or electric shock is very real. Ungrounded plugs and faulty outlets are also causes of home fires. The best way to stop fires and electrocution from happening is to have your home electric system inspected by a pro.
Protect your investment and avoid surprises by getting an electrical inspection for your new home or renovation. Mister Sparky provides comprehensive inspections to uncover hidden electrical risks. We can also help you determine how new appliances will affect your home if you are making upgrades. If you are adding a new water heater system, extra refrigerators, an outdoor oven, or more space heaters, these will all make heavy demands on your home’s wiring and breakers.
If you need to upgrade your box or add a new subpanel, we can advise you on next steps. If you are unsure about the state of your system, our team can tell you the exact condition of your home’s outlets, wiring, breakers, grounding, and insulation.
Inspections are quick and remarkably affordable. By making sure you have a thorough electrical inspection completed by a qualified Mister Sparky electrician before buying, selling, or remodeling a home, you can help ensure your home's electrical system operates at the highest level of safety possible. Kyle did an outstanding job installing my Power Inlet Box for a portable Generator. Kyle arrived on time, explained the full process and how long the installation would take. Upon completion Kyle quickly walk thru the process of shifting from commercial to portable electricity in case of power failure. Kyle also explained what to do when the power to the house is restored and how to re-energize my circuits. After the demonstration Kyle answered all my questions and was very courteous and patient throughout the process. I highly recommend Kyle from Mister Sparky for your electrical needs. Mr. Jones

Ramon and Lucas were fantastic! Professional, courteous, friendly, and considerate. They hung some heavy chandeliers and went above and beyond to ensure that everything was perfect. They also added an outlet for a wall mount TV. We are so happy and would highly recommend Mr. Sparky!

I had a great experience with Mister Sparky. The assigned electrician arrived promptly and was very accommodating, agreeing to wear a mask and shoe covers as requested. He was polite and professional throughout the entire visit. He quickly and efficiently troubleshot the issue with my smoke detectors and installed six new ones. Unfortunately, one of the new detectors was defective and caused the others to go off shortly after he left. However, the electrician immediately returned to my home the next day to replace the faulty unit, which I greatly appreciated. Beyond the excellent repair work, he also took the time to discuss options for a future generator installation, providing me with detailed and helpful information. I highly recommend this company because they delivers as advertised.

I would like to thank Matt and Mr. Sparky for coming to my home to discuss the installation of the Portable Generator Interlock Kit, 50-amp Breaker, and an Inlet outlet connection. Knowing that the hurricane season is getting closer I wasn’t sure if I could get a contractor to come out and do the work. When I called Mr. Sparky, they were extremely helpful and said they could get somebody out within the week to give me an estimate and to actually do the work. I was very pleased to hear that they could come out since many of the others I called wouldn’t even return my phone calls. In any case they came out a week ago a gentleman named Matt contacted me when he was about ½ an hour from my home saying he’d be there, and once he arrived, I showed him where the work needed to be done, and asked him to provide me a quote for all of the electrical work necessary. Matt went into great detail explained to me what would be necessary and even said that they could do the work right away. I said that I didn’t have the generator as of yet and it was on order and I should have it within a week and if everything worked out OK with the quote I would move forward. Matt created a quote right then and there and even included a military discount for me. I was a little surprised at the associated cost since I did have another quote from a 6 months ago and Mr. Sparky’s quote was higher than expected. Matt indicated that he could call the office and see if there was anything that could be done. The end result was they were able to assist me. They provided me multiple quotes one where they supplied all of the materials such as the outlet boxes Breakers and the cables, or if I wished I could purchase those items on line, Matt even told me exactly what materials I needed and where I could get them. Needless to say, with me purchasing most of the materials I was able to knock down the total price considerably. I will be setting up an appointment for the installation. I can’t say enough about Matt, his professionalism, knowledge and helping me out. I highly recommend them.
