Code Compliance / GFCI Services in San Antonio

At Mister Sparky^® we strictly adhere to, and comply with, the local and national electrical codes as dictated by the National Electrical Code (NEC), which is published by the U.S. National Fire Protection Association (NFPA 70). The NEC is a United States standard for the safe installation of electrical wiring and equipment. While the NEC is not itself a U.S. law, the use of NEC is commonly mandated by state or local law, as well as in many jurisdictions outside of the United States. The NEC codifies the requirements for safe electrical installations into a single, standardized source.

Some electric code violation guidelines of interest include:

Bathrooms

You can only install GFCI (ground fault current interrupter) receptacles in bathrooms.
There must be a receptacle within 3 feet of the outside edge of sink basin.
No receptacles face-up on countertops.
Because some receptacles power high-wattage devices like hair dryers, there must be at least one separate 20 amp. branch circuit.

General Rooms

There should be wall receptacles every 12 feet.
Receptacles should be on any wall space that is more than 24 inches wide.
Hallways more than 10 feet in length must have at least one receptacle.

Kitchens

All countertops receptacles must be GFCI.
There can be no receptacles more than 20 inches above countertops. (Exceptions are for the physically handicapped and for islands or peninsulas where this is not possible).
There should be receptacles above all countertops that are 12 inches or wider.
No face-up receptacles.
At least one receptacle should be located on islands or peninsulas.

I can’t complain I lost power to my efficiency apartment on New Year’s Eve at night Mister sparky tech Frank Ramirez came out to look at the problem and of course my electricity was the original from when the home was built 1950. Frank Thoroughly explained the problems I was having. Frank, David and Jason took care of the problem. Keep in mind the reviews helped me to choose a Reliable company. I have no regrets yes a little costly but so worth it! Thank you guys you all did an amazing job and no mess to clean up afterwards. Frank did go above and beyond to make sure everything was done correctly. Photos from old to new and added. He arrived early, was professional and personable, and took the time to explain what he was doing and why. Ant and Mark did an excellent job servicing my home today. They came out to give an estimate on my issue with no power to my water heater. They found that the water heater breaker was tripping and not resetting. I provided the breaker and they replaced that for me but they noticed in the laundry room was missing a bushing and the grounding wasn’t up to par along with a loose box. They did a great job of letting me know the issues and provided options for me. I will be recommending to family and friends the great work they completed for me. I now have hot water ; and now a happy customer!

Electrical connect repair and ceiling fan installation. Inspection, photos and recommendations for minor to mild electrical concerns. My experience with Alex was great! He was professional and transparent. He talked me through everything and he didn’t try to talk me into services I didn’t need right now.
