Mister Sparky® holds ourselves to the strictest standards, including compliance with all local and national codes dictated by the National Electrical Code (NEC). Our standards ensure our customers' homes are as safe and as reliable as possible, and also protects their investment: by complying with the NEC, our electricians make sure homeowners can sell their homes with minimal trouble.
For homeowners who are buying, selling, or considering a new home, electrical inspections are crucial to a.) understanding what you're getting into, and b.) ensuring a home is safe. Even newly-remodeled homes might have neglected electrical systems with aging components, outdated design, and other problems that range from inconvenient to dangerous.
It's also worth noting that older homes might not be up to the most recent codes, as the NEC is constantly improving and iterating. Even if a home is up to code, it may not be suited for the demanding power needs of the average family. With several laptops, smartphones, screens, and other devices for each family member, having reliable power everywhere in the house is vital—an inspection lets you know what you're working with.
Local jurisdictions and code enforcement boards inspect for compliance with the minimum standards, as set forth in code. The extensively trained and licensed technicians at Mister Sparky electrical comply with all local and state codes. Our techs are specifically trained to flag and take corrective action to keep your property and family safe.
Some electric code violation guidelines include:
To avoid critical overloading on receptacles where high wattage power devices like hair dryers could be in use, there must be at least one separate 20 amp. branch circuit.
Outdated wiring is one of the most common problems found in older homes. Fires can start when wires fray or when breaker boxes can’t handle the demands placed upon them. When these things occur, heat transfer to surrounding objects can cause them to smoke or ignite. Arcing is an even more dangerous possibility where the electrical current jumps across connections instead of moving through a circuit. This is essentially a form of lightning and the risk of fire or electric shock is very real. Ungrounded plugs and faulty outlets are also causes of home fires. The best way to stop fires and electrocution from happening is to have your home electric system inspected by a pro.
Protect your investment and avoid surprises by getting an electrical inspection for your new home or renovation. Mister Sparky provides comprehensive inspections to uncover hidden electrical risks. We can also help you determine how new appliances will affect your home if you are making upgrades. If you are adding a new water heater system, extra refrigerators, an outdoor oven, or more space heaters, these will all make heavy demands on your home’s wiring and breakers.
If you need to upgrade your box or add a new subpanel, we can advise you on next steps. If you are unsure about the state of your system, our team can tell you the exact condition of your home’s outlets, wiring, breakers, grounding, and insulation.
Inspections are quick and remarkably affordable. By making sure you have a thorough electrical inspection completed by a qualified Mister Sparky electrician before buying, selling, or remodeling a home, you can help ensure your home's electrical system operates at the highest level of safety possible. Our trained technicians can provide whole house rewiring and evaluation of your circuits to ensure compliance to code and the safe delivery of electrical current within your home.

Elliot and Anthony did a great job finishing a complex job in a day, Anthony even stayed late (with his supervisor I believe?) to make sure the job got done. The project included replacing most of the outlets and switches in the home to aluminum compatible devices, along with a new electrical panel. The day after, Elliot came back (with another electrician whose name I forgot) to label the panel and fix any mishaps that we noticed. Would be a 5 star review if they cleaned up a little better after themselves and, at the very least, told us about breaking a family souvenir from Peru. We found the souvenir placed back on the shelf it likely fell from and still finding pieces of copper lying around the house, which is a concern with little ones running around the house. Overall, satisfied with the services and professional demeanor of both Elliot and Anthony. Just a little disappointed about the broken souvenir.

Ryan is very flexible, kind, and friendly. He went above and beyond, stopping by twice a day to fix our electrical problem! Our doorbell hadn’t worked for half a year, and we finally realized it was a wiring issue. This company offered us an affordable price to get it fixed. We are happy to call them again if we have other problems :)

2/17/25 Met with Anthony this afternoon for an electrical check up, went great and he also installed the extra Halo light I was left in July in my bathroom…what a marked improvement, and the cost was reasonable. I will invite Anthony back to replace can lights in my kitchen, put 2 dimmer switches on and perhaps reconfigure a corner living room light at a later date. So happy with Mr Sparky and those who represent the company. 7/24 Bobby and Austin what a great team! Bobby came out for a bathroom fan (pic 1) replacement and went over a few things I’ve been meaning to have taken care of for 20+ years…Bobby gave me an excellent overall condition of my electrical and great quote. Austin came in later and started the job, with Bobby close by. They ended up staying a bit later than I thought they would for a Saturday but got all the small things done. Next week it’s a panel update! Yea! Will keep Mister Sparky with Bobby and Austin at the top of my list. Adding needed c02 and smoke detectors, home surge protection and in a week going to get needed light updates. Complete with cleaning up after the bits of wire strips and small pieces of dry wall. Thank you for your professional and punctuality and attention, in addition to knowing that my time is as valuable as the job you take on. Many thanks MJ

Mr Sparky, more specifically, Anthony, saved my sanity and enhanced my living space. YouTube did not have the resources to help me in replacing my geriatric, hard wired smoke detectors, who communicate with each other. I tried and failed and the chirping was hard to tolerate. Since I obviously needed professional help, I called Mr Sparky. Even though it was after normal office hours, I was still able to schedule an appointment for the next day between 11-1. Anthony arrived during that window and fixed my smoke detector issues fairly easily, AND put up a new light fixture for me, which is stunning. He also answered all my questions about electricity, which I had plenty of, after trying to be a DIY-er.

Coltin was a very nice estimator for what I needed done that day and also for quoting future work. He was polite and did not press any services in an excessive manner. I listed various problems and varying levels of importance, and he had suggestions for each one and breakdowns of cost. The technicians that came out were Ryan and Cole, and they worked together professionally to get the work done and cleaned up very well. They're were on time, and courteous to me and my family. They assuaged my anxiety and said this isn't the worst wiring they have come across. Excellent team you have.
